The Board and all safeguarding partners are continually working to take the learning from these reviews in order to ensure learning and actions are used to improve outcomes for children within their organisation.

Reviews show the importance of using the ‘whole family’ approach to understand the daily lived experience of the child and the child’s family history, especially around previous criminal offences. Reviews also show the importance of using critical thinking to question areas of disguised comliance or deception within families to establish what is really going on in any situation. Perpetrators of Intra-Familial child sexual abuse are adept at grooming the child and also the family around the child leading to family members normalising family life and the child’s behaviour, so feeling confident in our practice is essential whilst being supported by quality supervision and training.

Staffordshire Safeguaridng Children Board have commissioned Stafford Women’s Aid to deliver dedicated Intra-familial child sexual abuse training to the childrens workforce across Staffordshire.

How confident are you at spotting the signs, do you know what to look for? What does a child suffering from intra-familial child sexual abuse look like! And, if a child is pre-verbal or has no voice would you know how to spot the sign of child sexual abuse?

Are you waiting for a disclosure and would you know what to do if a child disclosed to you? Because every time a child discloses they are re-traumatising themselves, are you prepared for that?

Perpetrators of child sexual abuse are adept at grooming those adults working around the child, how do you know you are not being groomed too? Have you had the training? If not book now as places are limited.
